NorthernTel Mobility Annual Snowfest Mini Snowcross

Sunday February 17th, 2008

It was an excellent day for racing with the temperature just below freezing.  The snow and the racing started at the same time. There were 13 racers – 10 were locals with two from North Bay and one from Sudbury.

Rules for Tri-Town Sno Traveller’s Mini Sled  Races


Classes:
       Stock 1 - Ages 4 - 6
       Stock 2 - Ages 7 - 10

The same rules apply to both classes:

  • Only the following changes from stock will be permitted:

  • gears and chain and chain tensioner may be replaced.

  • governor may be by-passed

  • skis may be replaced with available aftermarket skis - no carbides or studs permitted.

  • rear wheel kit and suspension may be installed.

  • snowmobiles will be limited to 15 mph - speed will be monitored by radar-speeding will lead to disqualification. There will be warnings handed out during practice.

  • bumpers, handlebars and ski-loops must be padded - we will provide the padding if needed.

  • headlights and tail lights must be functional and covered with clear tape - tape will be available - Mini Revs should be done ahead of time.

  • tether cords and kill switch must work.

  • riders must wear:

  • DOT approved full face helmet with goggles or visor.

  • TekVest or other ISR approved safety vest - we will have some available to rent ($20) or buy.

  • hockey style shin pads.

  • boots and gloves or mitts.

ISR flag rules will apply.

9:00 to 10:00 Registration
10:00 to 10:10 Drivers meeting - mandatory for drivers and parents
10:10 to 12:15 Practice
12:15 to 1:00 Lunch and groom the track.
1:00 Races.

Racing Order:

Heats 7 - 9 - first or first and second (depending on numbers) moves to final.
Heats 4 - 6 - first or first and second (depending on numbers) moves to final.

Last chance qualifiers - 1,2, or 3 from each category moves to final.

7 - 9 final
4 - 6 final
